gLAdiator – Bitch Slap (Original Mix) ft. FERAL is KINKY

9 Nov

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls…I give you- gLAdiator. Danl Goodman and Ian Johnson are two of LA’s finest! This purple-and-gold bleeding duo bumps trap, moombah and electro stylized beats that captured my attention almost a year ago now, and I’ve been a loyal fan ever since. These two bring the energy so hard in their sets and also happen to be a couple of the nicest and chillest guys I’ve ever had the pleasure of hanging out with. They’ve FINALLY decided to release the original version of this banger,Bitch Slap’, which they started previewing in their sets earlier this summer, including EDC Vegas which had the whole crowd wondering “seriously, who the fuck are these guys….” FERAL is KINKY does her thing and spits a dope little reggae verse that leads to the mother of all moombah drops, (seriously, just wait). With recent support from Diplo, ƱZ, Baauer, Flosstradamus, and Dillon Francis; these boys know just what they’re doing and I can’t wait to see their style and fan base expand even further over the new year. Visit their soundcloud for more beats and monthly mixes and be sure to like their facebook page and show the homies some love!

*BUMP the speakers for the drop at 1:29, please.

Flosstradamus at The Fillmore Auditorium [Denver, 10/25/12]

26 Oct
Flosstradamus was all in at the Fillmore last night. We caught their House Party with A-Trak at Rhinoceropolis last week, but the place was such a sauna, all we could do was stand outside and try to catch the tunes from a distance. The Fillmore was a whole different story though: with a curtain hanging behind the sound booth to cut off half the theater, the normally cavernous Fillmore felt much smaller and intimate on Thursday night. Floss hit the decks not a minute past their advertised set time and opened with an entrancing remix of ‘Lana’s Theme‘. They set the stage for a hip-hop influenced set right from the get-go, mixing into Juicy J’s ‘Bands A Make Her Dance’ from Lana’s. The duo continued into a roller coaster of trap bangers mixed with hip hop lyrics, sampling Baauer’s ‘Yaow!’, Ludacris’ ‘What’s Your Fantasy’, and both ‘Clique’ and ‘Mercy’ from the Cruel Summer album. ‘Rollup’ went hard as always, ‘Total Recall’ was insanely hyphy, and obviously the biggest crowd pleaser of the night was their bass-heavy Original Don remix. With Sub.Mission’s generous addition of 12 extra subs… the place was shaking. You know it’s a good show when you can’t take a bathroom break without missing a song, and you could tell that these guys were having an absolute blast playing for everyone!

Certified Trap Reloaded Episode 1

18 Sep

Many people have joked about it, many people have sworn by it, but here is video evidence that Trap is popping off in 2012. Our friends over at LiveMixTapes.com & ClubTapes.com have put together this documentary-esque mini-series discussing the route that trap is taking and where it came from. One of the more impressive aspects of this series are the soundtracks that are arising from them – this first episode is packed with unknowns and heavy hitters that are going to be at the top of the game within months. Definitely give this episode a gander as your fall concert season gets underway. Check it!

Diplo Offers Up Two Remixes to Usher’s ‘Climax’

22 Apr

So it seems that Diplo can do no wrong. After fully expanding his talents across pretty much every genre, Wes has recently taken to producing for several major hip-hop and R&B artists. His catchy, organic and always original sound has caught interest in the hip-hop community as artists pine for the same creativity that gave Chris Brown ‘Look At Me Now’ (co-produced with Afrojack) and Wale his powerful  ‘collaboration with Big Sean, ‘Slight Work’.

Recently, Diplo’s work with Usher has resulted in the R&B ballad, ‘Climax’ which possesses some haunting synths, a driving bass line and even a couple dubstep elements…but since he’s not a total sellout, Diplo decided to release a couple remixes of his commercially viable single that gives us EDM fans both faith and hope in his artistic integrity. First off, a hip-hoppy, more dark mix with long time buddy Flosstradamus and then a “bouncier” remix by the man himself. Check em out and enjoy.
