Due to Overwhelming Demand, Datsik to Perform Twice in NYC in One Week

16 Jan

Following last Saturday’s sold out leg of the Firepower Reloaded tour at the Best Buy Theater, dubstep producer and overall bad boy Datsik has announced he will be returning to NYC this Friday, January 18th. Datsik, aka Troy Beetles, was originally scheduled to perform this Friday in Asbury Park, NJ, but do to “venue restrictions as well as an overwhelming demand” event organizers decided to move the show to Irving Plaza.

Since his premier in 2009, the young artist has seen a huge rise in success, with top slots at nearly every festival across the country, numerous chart-topping releases, and collaborations with the likes of BassnectarExcision12th PlanetFlux Pavilion, and Diplo, it’s easy to see why Datsik is in such high demand. The Firepower Reloaded Tour is continuing through the 25th of January, and features support from our boy GRiZBrillzRekoil and Barron. Tickets for the rescheduled Friday show at Irving Plaza are still available here!

Jantsen – When the Beat Drops (Bassnectar Remix)

25 Oct

During his massive 27 date tour this Fall, Bassnectar has found the time to compile a huge remix of Jantsen’s ‘When the Beat Drops’.  While I was butthurt by the drop in “Ego Killer” from his recent EP, Freestyle, this track has the segue that is really needed to not be blown away by the drop; the intro is there, bassnectar characteristics are built in, basslines build and then…when the beat drops…whammy! there go your eardrums. I mean that in the nicest way possible of course, so jump on in and check it out!

5 Oct

Ladies and gentleman, welcome to the 1st Edition of PB&J’s brand new weekly bass music post, Big Wet Bass. After seventy-one Dubstomp Wompday posts focusing mainly on Dubstep, we felt it was time to broaden our bass music horizons and venture outside the strict confines of such a genre-specific title.

There’s no question that the bass music landscape has seen a tremendous amount of change and growth in 2012 and this new format aims to explore that growth (and change) while focusing on bass music as a whole. In our inaugural post, we highlight everything from Pretty Lights and Zeds Dead to ShockOne and Culture Code. Also, be sure to check out the four very diverse mixes that we left for you as a bonus. Enjoy!

Electric Forest (Review)

6 Jul

I’ve been dreading the challenge of dumbing down my experience in Rothbury, Michigan this past weekend to paper; but, I’ve decided it’s a noble cause at the very least and it’s certainly going to be a personal mission of mine to convert as many people as possible into attendees for next year’s festival. What Insomniac Events & Madison House have created with Electric Forest is truly unbelievable and should prove to be even harder to compete with as Festival Season shows no signs of slowing down in the U.S. before the end of August. Combine 4 Days of amazing Electronic, Alternative, Reggae and even Hip Hop music with one of the most visually stimulating and pleasing venues I’ve ever had the opportunity to visit and you’ve got a pretty good taste of Electric Forest…home to more than 20 thousand music fanatics, the most unbelievable forest in the world and an atmosphere or overall party mentality that could rival New Years. We had the honor of covering Electric Forest this year and it was truly one of the most amazing weekends of my life. Step inside for an in-depth look at Sherwood Forest and some of our favorite acts that emerged from the four days of madness!
