Due to Overwhelming Demand, Datsik to Perform Twice in NYC in One Week

16 Jan

Following last Saturday’s sold out leg of the Firepower Reloaded tour at the Best Buy Theater, dubstep producer and overall bad boy Datsik has announced he will be returning to NYC this Friday, January 18th. Datsik, aka Troy Beetles, was originally scheduled to perform this Friday in Asbury Park, NJ, but do to “venue restrictions as well as an overwhelming demand” event organizers decided to move the show to Irving Plaza.

Since his premier in 2009, the young artist has seen a huge rise in success, with top slots at nearly every festival across the country, numerous chart-topping releases, and collaborations with the likes of BassnectarExcision12th PlanetFlux Pavilion, and Diplo, it’s easy to see why Datsik is in such high demand. The Firepower Reloaded Tour is continuing through the 25th of January, and features support from our boy GRiZBrillzRekoil and Barron. Tickets for the rescheduled Friday show at Irving Plaza are still available here!

(REVIEW) Eats Everything’s New York Debut w/ Lloydski and Paul Raffaele @ Cielo NYC (12.7.12)

10 Dec

Eats Everything

The Dog and Pony Show event company has something serious going on here in NYC. If you don’t know about them, you might want to make an addendum to your NYC nightlife party list. Friday at Cielo was simply put: a blast. I mean after all is said and done, what can go wrong in a beautiful venue with light-up walls in the middle of the meat packing district. When I showed up I couldn’t believe the line and instantly knew I had chosen that perfect event for a rainy start to the weekend.

What made the night even better was the destruction from Sir Daniel Pearce (Eats Everything). The Bristolian club killer more famously known as Eats Everything really showed New York how it’s done by playing anything and everything from KiNKs remix of Rachel Row’s Follow the Step to Disclosure’s remix  of Jessie Ware’s Running.

Next Up:

It was an event not to be missed and a very special thanks to Dog and Pony NYC for letting us see the magic happen. Make sure you show up for Julio Bashmore at le Poisson Rouge next week!

[REVIEW] Verboten presents: Lee Foss / Mathew Jonson / Walker & Royce at SRB Brooklyn (11.30.12)

4 Dec

Lee+Foss+PNGHuge thanks Verboten NYC for providing a deeper scene for the real house and tech afficionados! SRB Brooklyn was completely off the beaten path in a nice isolated spot in Brooklyn. When I arrived, Mike Palladino had already dove head first into his set. I’d never heard of Mike before (or seen him live, for that matter) – he did a phenomenal job of mixing a combination of light techno and funk which really set up the mood! He then got the crowd moving, dropping groovy tunes like Amine Edge & DANCE’s remix of Eyes On Me.

[Review] Verboten presents Supplement Facts TGE: Guy Gerber with Carl Craig, Etc!

27 Nov

We have to give a round of applause to Verboten NYC for consistently putting on amazing events and bringing out undeniable DJ talent — this particular night fulfilled all my expectations. As I walked in, Kate Simko had already brought the crowd to their feet (metaphorically speaking). The audience overall was a little light but she delivered on some good-natured vibes right from the start. As Kate went deeper into her set, she unleashed an even heavier bass sound and I would venture to say her set was an outstanding introduction for Guy Gerber.

Without haste, Gerber transitioned into one of the most exotic sets I’ve ever heard; eclectic, energetic and absolutely moving. I wish I could’ve made out more of the tracks but I could certainly pick out two heaters: 1. Maya Jane Coles’ remix of Ritual Union by Little Dragon and the closing track Timing, which is one of Gerber’s originals.

Gerber did everything in his power to keep the good people of New York shuffling throughout his set, and as he wound down you could see the satisfied expressions on everyone’s faces. What happened next was unexpected but a turning point in my own music career: Carl Craig changed my life. Craig captured the dance floor and played everything from old school Detroit acid house classics to Joris Voorn’s Goodbye Fly. They don’t call the man a legend for nothing and if you’ve ever wondered why he’s consistently named one of the best DJs in the world – go see one of his sets. What a night!

Huge Thank You to Verboten NYC for supplying such an excellent night before Thanksgiving.
