Legendary NYC-Club, Cielo, Celebrates It’s 10th Anniversary with 10 Wild Events!

9 Jan

Cielo_Mixmag_Advert

Over the last ten years we have witnessed a sea change in the electronic dance music world. To the joy of many, and perhaps the dismay of some, EDM has become as much a mainstay in popular culture as pop music before it. Trends have come and gone, and even genres of music have eventually evolved in that time, but we can all take comfort in knowing that over the last decade a staple of NYC’s house and techno scene has remained consistently true to itself. Cielo, one of New York’s most infamous boutique dance clubs is celebrating their tenth anniversary with ten special events throughout the month of January.

Last month PB&J reviewed Eats Everything’s NY debut, and we were simply blown away be his performance at this remarkable venue with its striking backdrop and award-winning soundsystem.  While the city has no shortage of night clubs, few venues of such an intimate size can boast a roster including Benny Benassi, Laidback Luke, Chris Lake, Treasure Fingers, Boris, Sander Van Doorn, Paco Osuna, Sasha, Sander Kleinenberg, Gareth Emery, and hundreds of other impressive acts.

Cielo plans to kick off the celebration on January 10th with the first of ten spectacular events all the way up to January 31st. We hope to see you there to kick of the next decade.

When the name Steve Aoki is brought into conversation, his original material is not generally the topic of discussion. With only one studio album under his belt, the focus is generally directed at his multitude of remixes, off-kilter and humorous videos, and of course you can’t forget about all the cakes and champagne. Earlier this week, Aoki dropped an EP in honor of this whole apocalypse thing. “It’s the end of the World as we Know it” brings forth three new original tracks; Singularity, Omega and Transcend. Mondays in the Mix: Diplo, Miguel Campell, Thomas Gold, Skream & Benga, Sander van Doorn

6 Nov

Some major talent in this week’s edition of Mondays in the Mix. A total of almost 12 hours of music that should last you through the week, including a melodic, cheesily progressive house Essential Mix from Thomas Gold not exactly my cup of tea, but I can respect the genre. Jump right in:
