Disclosure – Tenderly (Flashback 1994 remix)

18 Jan
Fog

Fog

That bass grooooooves. Free remix from Australian producer, Flashback. And sounds like it’s ready to fit right into an Ibiza all night, 5 am set. Relaxing yet so moving. Granted, this remix sounds nothing like the original, but that’s alright and actually something we admire in remixes – genuine creativity.  Hats off to the young Flashback for sharing this one for free. Incredibly smooth and I can just see it chugging along any given sweaty basement dancefloor tonight.

Four Tet Gives Away Free Album

15 Jan
Four Tet

Four Tet

Shock and awe filled already-blown minds of the fans following the legendary producer, Kieran Hebden (Four Tet). Uploaded as a surprise this morning, Kieran unveiled some unreleased works of his dating back to 1997, composed them together into a 40-min mix and sent it out to his following to download, share, and listen to as freely as they please. Simply a case of amazing generosity from the talented veteran. So, here you have it…a free Four Tet album.

If you’re a stickler who needs every full, complete version of these tracks to completely whack out your next live set, never fear! There will be a vinyl LP release of these tunes sometime in the near future.

Duke Dumont – BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix (1.12.2013)

13 Jan

Duke-Dumont

All month, BBC Radio 1 has highlighted their Future Stars of 2013. First up was Perseus and Jonas Rathsman last Friday night. And this past Friday, Duke Dumont stepped up to the decks. You’ve likely heard his breakout single, The Giver, somewhere in passing – in a random club DJ’s set, at a festival…shit, I heard it played twice in the same night at this bar in DC last night. He’s followed that up with a huge new track, Need U 100%, due for Beatport release tomorrow, January 14.

Duke packs a large sound into his sets and, if I may be frank, he’ll probably end up as one of your favorite producers this year as well.

FIRST LISTEN: Mercury – Man EP

11 Jan
Mercury

Mercury

They’ve proven themselves before as masters of rhythmic, grooving house tunes last year with Rio & Old Man’s House (which still is one of my personal favorites). Mercury opened up with another EP – a heavier sound in The Man, featuring big, burly, manly sounding noises all set to an 808 house break. The second track, Born Happy, is a little lighter but uplifting nonetheless. For whatever reason, I imagine it fitting in well at the end of a set…likely played by Carl Cox? I don’t know, it’s getting late, my imagination is running rampant and I need to get out of work already. These two tracks are available right now via beatport and will likely be heard in a Friday night house set near you:

Russ Chimes – Minimix (Annie Mac BBC Radio 1)

Russ Chimes

Russ Chimes

Recall our feature with Russ Chimes’ “Turn Me Out” last month? Annie Mac invited him back on the airwaves recently with a 5 minute minimix that caught our ears this morning. No, no human can or will do a live mix of 29 songs in 5 minutes; however, the song selection and engineering that went into this speaks to the tune of Russ’ ear. Broadcast last week on BBC, given out today as a free delivery, and delivered right to your ears courtesy of the J. Fantastic melting pot of tunes and pretty amazing, in this listener’s opinion. Track List after the jump. If you were hoping for something a bit more lengthy, we’ll leave another of his mixes below for your weekend:
