Chuck Magid – Butterfly

20 Aug

‘Butterfly’ is the latest release from Orlando based musician Chuck Magid. The song was written in memory of Keeley Imel, who passed away from complications of cancer this past spring. I recently got the chance to sit down with Chuck for a while and talk about his newest single, and when talking about where he drew inspiration from he said:

“After Keeley passed away her mother told me that people very close to Keeley had been noticing butterflies flying by them more often, as well as finding single dimes lying around. She also explained to me that this is a sign of somebody watching over you, and every day since, I’ve had butterflies flying directly in my face. I’ve seen more butterflies, butterfly print hats and clothes in the past months than ever before and that it is definitely the work of Ms. Keeley Imel. So I was seeing all these butterflies and it really inspired me to write a song about her.”

After chilling with Chuck for some time, he mentioned that his favorite part of making ‘Butterfly’ (aside from the uplifting music video) was writing the following line into the chorus with a clever change in spelling – it gave me goose bumps after I read it and it was written just like this:

“Thank You Keeley for showing me the meaning, That being happy is the Kee to life”

Penguin Prison – Don’t Fuck With My Money (Penguin Prison Club Mix) [Bonus Remix]

14 Mar

Found this funky Penguin Prison gem on the radio last week! Hopefully it finds you in a good mood too. I hope I’m not “fucking with their money” by posting this but it looks like Penguin Prison released it for free anyways…maybe the duo is fucking with their own money then huh? You can buy their brand new album on iTunes and Amazon so get down with it; below I’ve included a fine remix of this track as well. Spread the Jams by sending these songs to a friend!

Wolfgang Gartner – Anthology (Madeon Mashup)

19 Feb

No cool live-mashup clip from our French native this time, I just used a pic from the ‘Pop-Culture‘ video to remind you of what he’s responsible for. You might have even heard Zedd drop this jam at EDC Vegas 2011 if you were at the Mecca of EDM last year. This Madeon mashup is very clean, and I guarantee everyone who loves a little Wolfgang in their life will enjoy this tidy collaboration.

Whitney Houston – How Will I Know (Van Hooft & Forever Kid Unofficial Remix)

13 Feb

Whitney Houston was one of the greatest female singers and performers of our time. She will always be remembered even after her recent death. To honor her, we dug up this little tune to usher that voice into the forefront of Jamtronica. This feel-good house banger should be played and sung out loud at the highest possible volume. Thank you to Van Hooft & Forever Kid, the two who created this “Unofficial Remix.”

Whitney Houston lived legendarily, hit the jump for proof…

Pretty Lights – We Must Go On [Plus Official Music Video]

31 Jan

Jammers, Pretty Lights just dropped his new single and official music video. The video was created by himself and his girlfriend, Krystle Blackburn (who is PLM’s Creative Director). She say’s it’s a “new style of music video, that expresses and channels emotions in a beautiful collage of shots that capture little moments in people’s lives, from the joyous, to the innocent, to the desperate.”

This is what Derek himself had to say, “…the creation of this track and video is also an artistic explanation as to why I chose the name ‘Pretty Lights’ for my musical project.  It embodies the essence of the artistic eye and the idea that almost any moment, anywhere, can be a moment of inspiration and beauty.”

Derek is headlining Wakarusa and Summer Camp Music Festival this summer complete with a big performance at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, FL in March. PL will also be bringing his fresh beats to South America for the first time ever at Lollapalooza Brazil and Lollapalooza Chile this March and April. Stay tuned…more announcements soon!

Sounduo – Departures [New Album Release]

23 Jan

Sounduo is pleased to announce the release of their debut album, “Departures,” on Made In Glitch music. I had the honor of opening for them last year in Orlando thanks to the dudes at Xplosive Entertainment and it was a blast…

Equally melodic and heavy, this deep collection of 8 tracks showcases their progression as producers and musicians, as well as the band’s unique take on electronic dub-hop in a studio production format.  It’s everything you can expect from Sounduo, from future dub to glitched funkiness, heavy beats and a healthy amount of bass.

‘Depatures’, being released under Made in Glitch alongside bass pioneers like Bass Science, Gladkill, NastyNasty and other growing artists, reflects Sounduo’s growing respect among bass communities across the country. While the album certainly features some huge bass drops, the band aims for creating a futuristic glowing dub-atmosphere inside their tracks.
